Not sure if anyone has heard but Vanguard will be closing down their operations in Hong Kong.

(No, it’s not related to a fear of China because it seems it includes their Japanese operations too and they’re partially moving to Shanghai)

Since I own some Vanguard etf shares listed in Hong Kong, I’m confused about what to do.

It seems they’ll be deciding what to do with individual etfs over the course of 6-24 months and different options are on the table (ie selling the etf to another manager or shutting it down all together).

Any suggestions are welcome as I’m fairly clueless. I reckon if they sell my etf to another manager there’s a good chance the annual will go up. If they shut it down, then ...?

But then again, don’t etfs follow the market they represent and equal the worth of that market? (in other words, price fluctuations reflect the stocks they represent?)

Sorry, I’m obviously clueless about investing. The only thing i know is “time in the market, outweighs timing the market”
