Even before the pandemic, Facebook, Google, and Amazon were considered a problem by European regulators, and in the past few years they have escalated into large scale fines and creation of legislation like GDPR. Long-story short, Europe considers US tech giants like Facebook, Google, and Amazon a threat, especially since it gathers personal data on its own citizens. While they have for the most part complied, I think European regulators will eventually do what the US is doing to TikTok and demand that Facebook, Google, and Amazon sell their European portions to European companies.
