I worked in a hospital system for 7 years and just started contributing to a 401k program they offered in my last few years there. There’s not much in there, under $20k

I changed jobs at the end of last year (but did not do anything with the money in the 401k from the previous job) and then got laid off due to COVID and then my position was terminated. I’m now working in real estate as an assistant:transaction coordinator and am a 1099 employee.

So, with no company 401k offered at my current job, I have no idea what to do with the money that’s currently in there. Is it worth it to talk to a financial advisor? Should I look into the bigger companies who help you invest or go with an independent advisor? I’m in my early 30s so I’m okay with being a bit risky with investing, but I have absolutely no idea how to even start.
