Hey all,

Recently applied to be a lab tech somewhere and lied on my resume about having a bachelors (1 year left). I (21M) have been selected to be interviewed.

I was wondering if this is something that can get me into serious trouble if I get caught. I know I can lose my job if they find out, which isn’t a big deal, but can it have long-term consequences like being on my record or them letting other universities know I lied about my degree?

I am easily very qualified for this position having 4 years of laboratory supervising experience. I have a first author paper and abstract published and I’ve taught the laboratory portion of a Histotechniques class twice. I’ve been given an award by the American Physiological Association for my research and I’ve presented at 8 symposiums. On top of this I’ve been working in customer/food service for the past five years.

I’m just sick of being rejected from these entry level research positions when my experience and abilities clearly make me a stronger candidate than 99% of other candidates just because I don’t have a stupid bachelors.
