I have a concrete slab (https://ift.tt/2YZ2qVs) that had painted bricks in top. I am replacing with pavers. I plan on squaring off the concrete and then placing pavers on top but I am worried about potential water issues if I just place the pavers with a layer of mortar. I would think water could go down in between the pavers and then freeze and crack them since below it is essentially just concrete. I only have about a quarter inch clearance between the pavers and the siding of the house. Also, if I put a thin layer of sand, that might help with the potential water freezing issue but that means the pavers wouldn't be secured to the slab at all and could come off. That was a problem with the bricks that were there. They would fall off the edge of stepped on or if my kid is playing there. Thoughts? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/3ivvBHf
