Hey y'all!
I'm going to have my first apartment to myself next semester as my roommate is not allowed to leaver her country because of COVID right now. This is my first apartment, and the only utilities I pay for are electric. This includes my heating (I'm pretty sure. Still not 100% how to verify this.)
I would love to minimize my electric bill. I have heard some electric companies have student discounts, anyone know if Duke Energy does?
The thing is, I grew up in Pakistan and my school is in Indiana, so I hate the cold and always keep my place warm, but I'm sure it'll be pricey, especially since my apartment is on the top floor. I am considering getting 2 space heaters, one for my bathroom and one for my bedroom, or maybe even 1 and shuttling it between rooms, since my roommate isn't here, and turning the central heat off.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Does it actually save a substantial amount of money? I'd rather not freeze to death, but I can also use any savings I get right now haha.
Thank you all in advance!
