I just wanted to mention the obvious: how important an emergency fund is, even if it’s only a couple hundred dollars it is better than nothing. Last night, my rabbit unfortunately fell ill in the middle of the night so my fiancé and I had to rush him to the animal hospital. It came to an unexpected $330 and after waiting for him for hours to be brought out and take him home, my car starter went, almost leaving us all stranded at 4am. Luckily, my faith in humanity has been restored when a nice man was able to help assist and jump the vehicle. This other unexpected expense will probably be another $700. Instead of being completely overwhelmed and beating myself up over these expenses, I keep telling myself this is what emergency funds are made for. Something is better than nothing and it helps relieve tons of stress and excess debt. No amount is too small!
