I completely understand if this gets removed, but I thought I'd try it anyways.

I have a good friend's birthday coming up and we both often talk about being more minimalist and often peruse this subreddit for ideas on how to replace our cheap college junk with more reliable items.

So I wondered if there were any books, manuals, guides or other informative texts that help with learning good skills to help either replace/repair BIFL items or skills that replace unnecessary things (like learning to core a pineapple instead of buying a cheap plastic thing that often breaks).
