Yallo Reddit-
I'm looking for some advice as to what would be the smartest move moving forward with my finances. I'm in a bit of debt, not as bad as I know some people, but I'm inching close to 14,000 in credit card debt. I was making the monthly minimum payments on time for as long as I've had my credit cards (almost 10 years) but due to Covid-19 I've been out of work, and have maxed out on my deferments, and feel like I need to do something drastic to take care of this situation.
I don't have many assets, besides an old car thats paid off, and my living situation is pretty unstable- im staying with friends at the moment and don't have my own place. Someone suggested to me last year to file for bankruptcy, which sounded really scary / intense, and they also suggested me to stop making my cc payments and then settling for some $ amount.
I'm not really sure what would be the best plan of action- my credit score is already whatever (shit) - and I really feel like I just need a fresh start + to change my entire spending habit / way I see money.
Thank you all in advance,
