I've read a little about Mvelops and similar and possibly Quiken, but I'm looking to make sure I'm getting what I'm looking for.

I've been budgeting out of Excel. It's super manual, but what I do is put all the things that came out of the account for the past few months into a future projection of a year of what will come out. Then I adjust it for things like vacation or toys to buy, or extra money we'll get to get a rolling total every two weeks of how much money we have. I try to stay above a certain threshold each two week period and I've been increasing that cushion over the past 4 years I've been doing this. It has helped me make sure we have money for that bill coming up, but also allows me to plan for fun stuff by putting it in and waiting for it. I've also been able to pay off debt and know if we are ready for a new car or buy a house etc.

Is there a tool that does, but maybe easier/better than I'm doing now?
