Today I started to renovate my leaking bathroom shower. There is visual water damage on the lower section of the shower wall and I can’t find the leak. I turned the shower on and... nothing? When left on for a long time in the past, it will leak  water from the outside but sometimes it won’t. From outside the shower unit, there was water damage but no mold above an existing toilet. on a side note, the entire shower unit and outside wall had insulation installed which allowed for the moister to be trapped and spread (not sure if I am right, I'm not an expert). From outside the home, you can see where there is a leak too with little corrosion to the concrete and rusted nails. I have not used this unit for a long time and don’t want to tear the ceiling drywall until I get an outside opinion thinking that’s where the leak could be as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first DIY in a long time. I’m planning on calling a plumber as soon as I can find the actual problem/location to make everything easier. Also if anyone has any recommendations material wise, i.e what insulation should be installed, etc. that would be very appreciated too.
