Just realized after about 18 years in a 401k I don't know the answer to this.
I suspect the stock market is going to crater close to the end of the year (as more lagging indicators show up), and allll our investments in our 401ks are in stocks. I want to move most of our money to the money market options. I won't be withdrawing anything at all, I just want to move it temporarily.
Will I owe anything beyond the regular transaction fees? Are capital gains only paid when money is withdrawn?
