I have a previous degree in kinesiology, and I've only worked as a firefighter before I made a career change to IT. I already have CompTia A+, Net+, Sec +, and a Microsoft MD100 cert. I'm looking at going back to school for IT. I'm debating between a 2nd bachelors or masters in IT. The second bachelor would either be at WGU around 8 to 10000 dollars and quickest to complete. The next option for a second bachelor would be to go to University of Georgia which would be around 40k for 2 years, but on tuitiontracker.com it says UGA is even cheaper than WGU if you're below a certain income; however, I'm thinking that since I already have another bachelors I won't be able to get any scholarships. My third option would be a masters in IT at Kennesaw State University which would be around 15000. My only worry with the masters is my dad suggests not to do it because a masters wouldn't teach the basics, and a masters program would be too theoretical, which would make me overqualified when I apply to jobs. Do you all agree with this assumption?
Which of these options would be the best?
- 2nd bachelors at WGU around $8 to $10k
- 2nd bachelors at UGA around 20000 to 40000 depending on if the stats from tuition tracker are legit and if I can get the sticker price knocked down.
- Kennesaw State Masters 15k
