Long time lurker, first time poster: For Mother’s Day, I took on the responsibility of helping my mom out with her finances. She’s in her late 50s and has never had a budget. When combing through her account with her, I added up all of her takeout and it was ≈$560. Now.. she lives with two roommates in the suburbs, is an essential mental healthcare worker, but doesn’t want to cook meals because she works from 2-midnight.
After showing her where her money goes, she’s vowed to make a change. My question to you all is: how can I get her to cut her food bill in half, be excited about making food, and still finding time to relax after a very stressful day of work?
