Long-ish post, TLDR at bottom. Apologize for any format issues, I’m on mobile.
Okay so,
My mother is in her 50s and still truckin’ at work. She has your normal 9-5 job but usually works longer hours (stays until about 7-8 usually). She hasn’t had a single chair longer than a month it seems and now she’s currently rocking a exercise ball “chair” that she made me “build” out of PVC pipes for her lol. After I slaved away for like, 2 hours, building this death trap, she claims she doesn’t like it. Oh well. Back to the search, which brings me here because I know nothing about chairs and have run out of options at this point.
My question for you people of this mighty fine subreddit that I just discovered 4 minutes ago is this:
I need help finding a cheap, solid office chair or any sort of alternative that is very mobile and is very supportive of her back without digging into it.
For clarity, her specifications:
- has to be somewhat cheap (under $300 preferably, she’s a finance director so she’s very frugal by nature)
- has to be mobile as she has a 90 degree corner desk and is always moving around side to side
- has to support her back well to promote good posture, but not to where it’s forcing her into an uncomfortable position
- stand up desks out of the question since she has arthritis in both knees and can’t stand for long periods of time
- biggest thing is long term comfortability and mobility I think
Sorry for long-ish post, just trying to help out my sweet mother so I don’t have to build anything else out of cheap pvc pipe :)
TLDR: need chair for indecisive mom that is super comfortable for long periods of time, supportive, and highly mobile. No stand ups or exercise ball. Under $300 preferably! Thanks!
