As an immigrant working in the US, I wasn't sure whether I should invest using my employer sponsored 401k or an after-tax brokerage account.
It's a no-brainer to invest in the 401k to atleast get the employer match. It's also a no-brainer to use a tax-advantaged account if you expect to be here in the US until 65. However, as an immigrant on a worker visa I don't know if that's my case.
So I built a webapp to compare the returns from investing the same amount of pre-tax money using either types of accounts: 401k-helper
