I have recently found and bought the leather shoes that should be with me for many years. I willy, nilly polish my shoes 1 to 3 times a year, use any polish that is handy.
I do brush off any dirt before I polish and apply the polish quite thick, then after it dries in a bit for a mins or three and then buff off any excess.
It there a polish brand/type or regimen that will extend the life of the shoe more than other ones? When I very rarely have my shoes professionally polished, it is a much longer process, often with different products and cloths in one session. I wonder, does this have a purpose, I don't mean aesthetic, such as a more shiny shoe, I mean in terms of how long that shoe will last? The "Kiwi" brand is available everywhere here and very affordable, not sure if good?
It sometimes seems that any grease or oil, from mink oil to even vaseline is still better than none, yet polish is probably better? And which polish might be best of all? My shoes are black but I also have some light coloured leather gloves i'd like to treat with something transparent.
How often to do polish you shoes and with what?
