I'm a cyclist, but don't wear jeans when I ride my bike. My issue is that my thighs are generally larger than the average guy with my waist/inseam size, so every pair of jeans that I've purchased in the past 5 years or so has had a crotch blow-out within a year.
Also, because of my larger thighs, I don't like straight cotton jeans. I really like spandex-infused jeans since they have a lot of give in the thigh area, but none have lasted for any significant amount of time. I've read that many crotch blow-outs are caused by men wearing their jeans incorrectly. I am definitely not one to let my pants sag at all. I wear slim-fit jeans with Vans, but I'm not into the super skinny jeans anymore as I am a teacher and need to have a visual separation from my students' fashion trends.
I'd really like something with a gusseted/reinforced crotch. I also would like to stay away from Levi's because their quality has significantly decreased and I've spent way too much money buying Levi's in the past with less than desirable durability. I'm interested in the Duluth Trading Men's Ballroom Double Flex Slim Fit jeans, but I'm nervous that even their slim fit would still be too baggy. As weird as this sounds, I'm also not a big fan of the seam at the bottoms of their pants. It just kind of makes all of their pants look like toddler clothes to me for some reason.
Also - I'm not going to spend $150-$250 for Japanese denim. Finding pants that fit me is hard enough and I'm not going to gamble that much money.
