I try to be frugal but I am much less frugal than many on this sub. I’m trying to figure out what to do about my lawn.
I’m going to be renting a house for 7 more months in a place where grass has no business growing - but alas I have to keep my grass green or risk losing my 2k security deposit. (I try not to listen to my sprinklers waste water and money every other day.) In the summer it is easily 110 here during the day, no fun to cut grass.
Right now I’m paying $120 a month to a guy who mows my lawn once a week. So in the next 7 months I’ll pay $840.
After 7 months I know I am moving somewhere where I will have no lawn and no need for a lawn mower.
It seems like a no brained to buy a cheap lawn mower, maybe even used one, use it for 7 months and then sell or give it away and laugh all the way to the bank with the money I’ve saved...(probably more than 600 minus value of my time spent mowing)
But I’m conflicted. 1) I truly hate mowing to lawn 2) It is crazy hot here 3) the man and his family (who I think is his crew and I suspect are not documented), especially right now, probably need that $120 and would be hurt losing it.
Thoughts?
Edit: I currently own zero lawn care equipment.* hope that was clear
