I know this seems very odd, because apparently many people life a simple life very happily. But I don't know anyone who actually had the courage to step out of the rats race.

So my vision or fantasy is, to actually "just" have a simple job in a café as a barista or in a supermarket. I have a Master's degree and while I love learning and studying, I love my mental health more than that. Also I don't really care much for prestige or having an ambitious job or anything in the liking. I wanna be there for my family, I wanna have my friends around. I wanna have time to pick up a good book and make music and care for my plants.

But after graduation everyone seems to hush me towards a job "that has something to do with my degree". Seriously, I studied art history because I loved it. Not because I had a superior motive in mind that will lead me to a job in that field. The more internships I had and there aren't many sectors left in the art field I haven't tried, the less I am interested in it.

But why do people suggest me I won't be happy with a "low" job? I mean, the pay is pretty much the same as in the arts/cultural sector. Without the mental load. No one will ask me to put some more cans into the shelves after work, during weekends, at home, without pay, will they? (Except they are a shitty employer). Why do they think they know better what would make me happy? And I get it, the degree cost money, but I can pay off my student loans just the same as with an arts job (they pay the same minimum wage).

So what do you think guys? Am I hallucinating? Why do many people suggest me that I should get into a "demanding" job? I don't want a demanding job. And why am I so influenced by it?

Well thanks in advance and sorry if this came up already!
