I’m torn about moving right now to save money.

My current rent is 1300 for a one bedroom apartment (approx. 850-900sq ft) and the new place would be 1000 dollars a month for approx. 300 sqft. (a basement suite) I do have a cat, but both places are pet friendly.

My reason for wanting to move is due to the coronavirus, my graduation as a registered nurse has been postponed, and I had planned to start working sooner than expected, and be able to confidently afford my current apartment.

I have enough money saved for total cost of living + rent in my apartment until September.

I just can’t decide if the hassle of moving is worth saving 300 a month, or if I should risk waiting to see how things turn out, and keep my current apartment. I don’t want to run out of money, but I also don’t want to move multiple times. (right now it is unclear when graduation will occur as practicums have been suspended, but I have been offered a position once I have completed my hours).

I don’t want to move into a small basement suite, only to want to relocate as soon as I graduate, but I have no idea when this will be with the current world state, and don’t want to risk running out of money.

Any advice?

TLDR: should i move to save 300 a month to a worse apartment, or stay in current one in the hopes that I will be able to start working and afford current place long term.
