Looking to get some ideas.
How can I make money in the next couple months and years?
I've found myself in a good spot financially with the craziness going on and want to take advantage of it.
My wife and I are both still working with good paying jobs.
We have 6-month cash emergency fund.
We have no debt except the mortgage with a low interest rate (3.3%).
We invest 15% in our 401k's and max out Roth.
Our financial advisor calculated 97% chance me and the retiring in our mid-fifties (pre-pandamic - who knows now). We're in our early forties now.
Situations like this don't come around often: probable recession, potential stock market and housing crashes, etc. I want to make money from it all.
I was too young and dumb during the dot com run up to make anything. I made a lot in the bull run after the great recession.
I don't want to look back at this time and regret not taking advantage of it since I have money to spend/invest. Especially since who knows how stocks and other vehicles will perform from here on out, I want to diversify. Making more to be able to retire earlier isn't necessarily the goal but to make extra so that retirement is still comfortable no matter what comes from the financial shit storm the world finds itself in.
We're pretty boring financially - slow and steady growth - but don't mind taking significant risk if necessary.
I was going to get into real estate couple years ago but I'm not wired for it.
I'm invested in crypto which one is actually doing great right now - will see where that ends up.
I really enjoy selling things on eBay and could see getting more into that but need to learn how to make enough per hour to make it worth while.
I'm not wired to start a business but to build great operations and systems around someone else's vision. That's a part of my day job and I absolutely love it.
To be clear, I don't want to take advantage of people but of the situation. I know many people are hurting right now and I wouldn't ever want to do anything to cause them more harm. I was hesitant to even post this because I didn't want anyone hurting thinking it was a humble brag or whatever. Believe me, it's not and I'm very cognizant of the pain and suffering going on in the world. I have a lot of survivor's guilt and my heart breaks for everyone who is suffering. Man, these are weird times. At the same time, I want to take care of myself and family the best I can including financially.
I'm up to looking at anything. Any ideas? What have you done that worked out well? What are you planning on doing financially to protect what you have or to make more money? Should I post this in any other subreddits?
