Hello Fellow redditors, I need advice with my retirement account strategy. Please explain your view point so I can understand better.
I made the dumb mistake of putting in 2019 and 2020 Roth IRA contributions on 1/1/20... now I’m down about 25%. I am still maxing out all my pretax retirement accounts 401k and 457b by putting in every 2 week. I was considering changing my current investments strategy: 401k: - Target date fund (100%) 457b: - Target date fund (70%) and TRBCX (30%) Roth IRA: - FZROX (68%), TRBCX (16%) and TRRNX (16%) Overall, I am down about 20% in all accounts combined.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to convert all my funds to at the moment to VBLTX (to avoid further loss), and the new contribution to be pushed into FXIAX(90%) and VBLTX (10%). When the market starts moving up a little I plan on converting my all my funds back to FXIAX(80%) and VBLTX (20%).
The reason I believe this idea is good is because this way I can still keep from further losing money if the market goes down and I will be buying every 2 weeks so I should still get a decent amount of gains if the markets jump back up in a short time.
Thoughts?? Should I leave it all alone and not mess with it at all?
I am currently 31 and in a secure position at work with a recent promotion with salary bump.
