I can't figure this out, and a Google search leads to nothing useful except ads for plumbers. For about a day there's been a water leak on the unfinished ceiling of the basement. It's coming down at a rate of about one drip per second. There's a wet spot on the ceiling about a foot in diameter right next to one of the floor joists. There are also several factors that leave me at an utter loss in trying to figure out the cause:There is no plumbing in the vicinity of the leak. The nearest pipes are those serving the water heater about three feet away, and these pipes are not leaking and are fully exposed to view. The nearest non-exposed pipes are in the bathroom at least ten feet away. There is no trail of moisure along the ceiling leading to the leaking spot. As the ceiling is unfinished any such trail would be easy to see.As far as the possibiity of a roof leak goes, the rooms above the leak, both bedrooms, show no evidence of any water damage or moisture on their floors, walls or ceilings, and the weather has been dry for several days.Any ideas? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2P4rp4d
