I am currently living in a community where an amusement park sold seasons tickets before the season started, and then decided to close before the season started (even though they were selling tickets right up to the closing announcement pretty much), now a lot of customers are left with a useless piece of paper and some are out many hundreds of dollars! I did not buy the tickets, but many others did. Please be careful what you buy seasons tickets to, or attraction tickets ahead of time.
Also if you are able to, try to check the status of the attraction or park before you go, if its being reported as run down or in bad condition, you should run quickly no matter how bad your kids want to go there. Check reviews, as there are usually a boatload of complaints for these types of attractions if they are going down. Buy with your bank or a credit card, for a possible refund if this happens to you.
These tickets have terms and conditions that say if the park closes or doesn't open before the season starts that if you buy it you are not due a refund and they will hold to these terms. If its a theme park chain with multiple locations they will expect you to use the passes on another park in the chain, even if you live nowhere near the park or do not plan on travelling there ever.
