I was about to pull the trigger on a new Google Pixel, then remembered there was a reason I bought a OnePlus X in 2016 after they'd been discontinued - totally unlocked and a thriving ROM community! I've been hanging onto it so long because it's such a quality phone in a 5" screen size (I can't stand giant phablet phones).
It had been feeling a bit sluggish lately, and I kept running out of space because of a slow SD card that wouldn't expand the main memory like it should have. Bought a new PNY Elite-X 64gb card, wiped the phone, installed LineageOS 17 (based on Android 10), and after a couple hours of reinstalling and fiddling, the phone seems like new again!
Fully up to date and good for another year at least now.
