Is it possible to live frugally in NYC with a 24/hr salary?

Living frugally means, no take outs, no eat outs, no cars therefore no gas and car insurance, no movie dates just netflix, no childcare fees as we'll do that ourselves, no monthly budget for clothes and miscellaneous stuff.

Just groceries, utilities (eletricity, water and internet), health insurance, rent, and transportation (bus, trains).

We plan to migrate from The Philippines to USA nyc, with my husband working as a nurse, and me being a housewife taking care of our toddler. I'm planning to take part time jobs, but if it's only done at home and if it can be done during my husband's day offs. I dont want to work just to pay for monthly daycare fees.

We have an estimated 50k dollars of savings, which we plan to use as buffer fund for our first yr, plus moving/migrating expenses.

We calculated that with a minimalistic/frugal kind of living, we might be able to manage to live for 35k per yr.

Reason why we will migrate as a family: I dont want our toddler to grow up with just seeing her dad once a yr for a month, for the next 5 yrs. I still want her to grow up knowing and seeing her dad is around physically. Me and my husband experienced growing up as adults being comfortable of not seeing our parents for yrs and decades. They worked overseas.

Hope anyone here can share their thoughts, experiences, recommendations, advises. I'm a bit terrified, but I'm confident that our frugality will save us for the first few yrs of settlement.
