Hi all,My garage only has two outlets (one of which is in the ceiling for the garage door opener), so I'd like to add a few more. I'm confident working around electricity, and I'm aware of needing to shut power off at the breaker before messing with anything. I have a few questions to make sure I'm going to go about things correctly.I am in the US, and I believe in a garage outlets must be protected by a GFCI outlet. One of the outlets in the garage is GFCI and when I trip it, the other loses power as well. Does this qualify?I am still working on figuring out the amperage of the breaker going to the garage, but for this next part lets just assume it is a 20 A breaker. So 20 A at 120 V gives a capacity of 2400 W. I have two light bulbs (both at 40 W), 4 LED light fixtures (each at 40 W) and a garage door opener (best estimate is 540 W) for a total of 780 W. Leftover capacity is 1620 W, or 13.5 A at 120 V. So I could pull another 13.5 A before tripping the breaker but I know this is a bad idea so I could safely pull another 10.1-10.8 A with everything else running, correct? Is there anything specific regulating what conduit is used? My plan was to use metal gang boxes and 1/2" EMT conduit.Lastly, where is the best place to get information regarding wiring code so I can be sure I'm doing things properly? via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2vqh2kj
