I'm making a large shelf out of a cheap pine board, and finishing with varathane stain + poly. I also conditioned the wood with varathane's conditioner (which has cured for several days at this point because life happened). Most of it looks really good to me, but where the knots and the Heartwood are are super glossy, and kinda sticky after almost 2 days of curing. Should I have done more conditioner or something? Maybe it'll just take longer for those parts to cure because they absorbed more of the poly? It is cold in my garage, even with the little shop heater going.I'm hoping for the last one. So far I've only done the bottom of the shelf (so if I screwed it up it's easier to hide), so I'd like to work out as many kinks as possible before doing the top.
