Hello frugal people of reddit!
Our family is looking to purchase a 2015 Honda Odyssey here in Canada for a private sale price of 19000$. It's a ex model, no bells and whistles really. No hitch, no nav, no sun roof etc.
It has 30000km
It has undercoat done.
Seems to drive fine, though I didn't get to drive it very far as it's not insured currently.
The family just isn't using it as they use City Transportation mainly.
No damage, rust, or issues I could see. Starts fine, looks fine besides some shallow scratches.
Would this be a good purchase?
We currently have a 2013 Ford focus hatchback, which I have had numerous issues with, wrt the clutch and stuff. We are cramped and very tight in this tiny vehicle, bit of a safety concern for me, as we have 3 children under 8 years of age. It has 180k km on it currently and I can hear the engine having issues, slowly getting worse.
I have never bought a used vehicle and my family always purchased new, which I now know is a bad financial decision.
Is a 2015 model too old?
Honda Odyssey seems to have good resale value and safety ratings which is nice.
Next best thing I can find nearby is a 2017 Ford escape with 50km from a dealer for 20000$, but it's only a 5 seater, so just as right as we are now in the focus
Any advice is appreciated!!
Thank you!
