Guess I’m putting this out there more as a PSA than requesting advice. I’ve held zero balance on my cards (3) for years. Two were paid off a long time ago. I hold them as emergency cards and one is the first card i ever had so won’t cancel it. My other card is a chase freedom card so i have some recurring payments on there and always try and utilize their 5% cash back bonuses every quarter only on the things i would normally buy. Not even really sure how this happened but now I’m looking at about a $9k balance on my card. Actually, I do know how it happened - unnecessary spending. And it definitely was not overnight. Kind of got myself into a rut with buying things that i really don’t even need and going out for dinners and whatever. Maybe we all kind of go through this at times. Maybe just me. So now of course i need to go big on payments and knock this out.

Be careful. Unnecessary spending happens to the best of us. If you find yourself heading down that path do what you can to take a step back and stop it. It can snowball very quickly.
