I've got a lot of these coaster-sized offcut discs of wood (cut from the ends of logs) that I'd like to use for a project. They're all circular and cut crooked (example in the image below).I want to flatten them, but they're only a couple of cm thick and difficult to handle. I've searched a lot on Google/Reddit for how to straighten small cuts of wood, but can't find much. I've asked around and the recommendations so far have been 1: bin them and 2: sand the hell out of them. Before I jump in, I figure I'd check whether you guys have any advice. The only power sander I have is a detail sander, but these cuts are so crooked that it's not taking enough material off to flatten them. Would an orbital sander do a better job?Aside from that, I have a router. Would it be wise to place the discs between two rails and use the router to flatten them? (Still haven't worked out how I'm going to affix everything, probably not a good idea to clamp it, seeing as how small it is, don't want to nick the clamp with the router, but I'll work it out.)Other than that, do you have any better ideas? I'm not averse to buying new tools for the job.Cheers.https://ift.tt/35hpfEk via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/38rft4N
