Hi, we are working on a bathroom remodel and have concerns about the bathtub. The bathtub is being installed into an alcove, but it’s a drop in tub (so no flange). We are tiling the entire surround. So far we have put Durock up, taped and mudded the seams, and applied waterproofing to the cement board. What should we be doing with the no flange situation? I have seen people caulk and grout the gap between the cement board and the tub, but I have also read people having extensive water damage down the road by doing that.
