Not sure how to get the best bang for my buck on HVAC air filters.

The cheapest I've seen IIRC was about $4 for a 3 pack that were rated for 1 month. They're pretty basic with a flat filter fabric/fiberglass that definitely seems less dense than pricier ones.

What I've been buying is a mid-tier one for like $4 a single filter that's rated for 3 months. The fabric is noticeably denser and the filter just feels more sturdy and robust and it usually has some kind of features like pleating or fancy materials. At the three month mark they are coated in dust so I guess they're doing the job.

There is also more expensive filters I've seen anywhere from like $7-$15 per filter. Are these ever worth it?

Have you found a sweet spot in price to performance? I live in a 780 sq. ft. apartment which doesn't seem like that much air that it would need to filter. And I leave my HVAC off a lot of the time especially in winter so I'm sure that factors in as well.

Also I've been buying mine (16in x 20in) at Walmart. If you know any better deals please let me know!
