Hi everyone,

I am curious if there is any available research/material on how climate change and possible increase in "conscious" consumerism is likely to affect economy and therefore its overall growth.

Obviously, investors want for an economy to grow so they get a higher return on their investments, but how is that to be reconciled with a desire to preserve our environment, which calls for reduction in consumerism?

Unfortunately, I am cynical enough to believe that we will not consume less just out of goodwill, nor that economy is likely to stop growing for a while (given the increase in population).

And yet, there are still analysts who predict a downturn that goes beyond a repetitive boom-and-bust cycle of "credit" economy - example being negative bonds (I think?).

So I guess I am asking for a pointer to some reading material (even a decent online discussion board would suffice for now) that tries to gauge the future of economic growth and how current state of affairs (esp. climate change) is likely to affect it.

On the other hand, if you have some thoughts on the topic, please feel free to share!
