I just found out about it since my brother (both mentally and physically handicapped) says he couldn't use the account anymore and needs me to fix it.
I was surprised to learn the account he was using was under my name. I suspect this is because when we were both little our mom made an account for us to share, but it slowly became his account since I never used it and have a separate account at a different bank (still joint with my moms account). I just assumed it was under his name this whole time.
My brother also told me he has been using that account for his social security benefits. I'm not entirely sure how he was able to do that if it was under my name and I suspect this is why the account was frozen.
I tried to unfreeze the account but the bank told me the freeze was beyond their authority or something. They gave me a number to call and said it was a customer service line. I'm kind of scared to call it since it sounds like I might be in big trouble over something I had no knowledge of.
What should I do?
