Hi all! Where to begin, hmmm...Well, I live in the Northeast in a tiny house that came with an unfinished basement (of sorts). From what I can see, from sweeping/vacuuming the dirt down there, it looks like half of the floor is either dirt or there is just a LOT of dirt on top of concrete, but it is very hard to tell because the floor is so uneven! Pics of uneven floor here: https://ift.tt/2VWvBoL you can see, the floor is very wonky; there are seemingly random blocks of cement flooring, and places where it dips, large holes where the drainage goes, and rocks on top of the sump pump for some reason. I would love to fix the floor! But unfortunately, I must address other issues first...Whenever it rains, I always have water coming through certain spots in the walls. Here are pics of where it comes through at: https://ift.tt/32BVFs8 One under stairs, one by dehumidifier, and one by bottom of a window (hard to see, but that's the worst one, because the water all pools in a concave in the ground there...). I would love to get these leaks prepared, but I have since run into another problem. I was doing some research on older homes and I think mine might be a lime foundation? But I'm not sure. Some things that lead me to believe that is the parge coat that is one the inside and outside of the house. It is bubbling up and flaking off in some places, which made me assume it was because it wasn't a lime coating? See pics here: https://ift.tt/2MYYFI7 Directly underneath the white parge coat is some mushy... dirt stuff, that might be mold or something? It's light gray/white in appearance and I can brush it off of the walls with ease. It seems underneath, there are stones in the wall? Rounded rocks help to make up the wall? I didn't think that was used in lime cement, so now I'm at a standstill, trying to figure out if it's lime or not.So, if anyone could offer any advice, that would be greatly appreciated! Either advice on what I should tackle first (besides tearing down the cruddy parge coat, cause I know I gotta probably do that first), or if they've seen walls like this before, maybe what my foundation could be made of? The house was built in 1930 and it is in upstate NY, if that helps! via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/2Myn8Fz
