I am in the united states. While I do want to hear all opinions, I probably can't spend more than $600 on a new washer.
So, my mother's washing machine shakes violently during its spin cycle. More often than not, a cycle just can't complete. It's been a NIGHTMARE. She has some kind of memory affliction, so we're going on 2 years of this.
I've been doing laundry at my father's, but that's a pain.
My Mom had the geek squad come check it out in December, and they said to buy a new one. We have a whirlpool cabrio, model wtw6600sw2
It looks like it wouldn't be a difficult repair, (suspension rods) but I would need to pay someone to do it. Just wondering what people's opinions are. My father was of the opinion it might be more cost effective to buy a new washer. (He's going to help me, he says, since my Mom just can't get it together.)
I'm going through all the threads on washing machines but it's kind of overwhelming. "Get a speed queen!" "They's shit now!" "No washer will last any more" "Get an old maytag..."
There's a 2018 speed queen model for $400 on craigslist where I live, but I just don't know. And I read that it's better not to buy one from a store like best buy or home depot, but a local business... what might I search for? "appliance family owned store?" I have no idea.
