I don't know if this is old news but its something I only realized recently so I thought I'd share. The chicken breast at the grocery store butcher counter are drastically cheaper than the packaged ones. Usually almost 50% cheaper. If you go for the untrimmed chicken breast they are even cheaper. Plus the butcher will wrap them in butcher paper instead of plastic and styrofoam so you have the added benefit of generating less waste. Another nice thing is that if you know how you are going to prepare them you can ask the butter to thin slice or butterfly them for you, and save you a bit of prep work too. It only takes a few extra min waiting at the butcher counter verse grabbing a package off the shelf.
I just bought 6 large chicken breasts for the price of a package of 3 breasts. I wish I had know this sooner, I hate to think of how much money I've wasted in the past buying the pre-packed ones!
