hey guys. i was raised by and am living with, basically, a hoarder. i’m a chronically ill/disabled young adult and unfortunately my dads place has always been so incredibly unsanitary and cluttered that keeping it clean and organized has been an insurmountable feat. i’m trying to get rid of as much stuff as possible so that i can at least keep my own living quarters sanitary so that i can relax enough to sleep in my own bed while trying to work and save money to move out and heal from chronic illness... it’s been fun!!!! (lol)
i can’t get my dad to help me for longer than like an hour at a time, and it always takes a ton of convincing, and an insane amount of focus to keep him from getting distracted. i need to be doing this as fast as possible on my own because if i leave things for too long, they end up covered in cat piss and vomit (wish i was kidding) - it’s been this never ending cycle where no matter how hard i try to clean, i can never get it clean enough because things immediately become dirty again.
i have way too many clothes, and i need some perspective maybe from someone who grew up in a more normal home about what actual essentials are in a closet for a young adult with a lifestyle that is likely going to involve moving around quite a lot. need to be able to pack up and move easily, so really trying to minimize as much as possible for that reason and also so that keeping things clean and organized is not so difficult.
also important: my weight has been fluctuating a lot, and i recently lost about a quarter of my body weight and still losing more every day. i also unfortunately may need to hold on to some weirder/more “fashionable” type stuff because my career involves needing to go out and network and “look cool” ... i’m also female but don’t tend to dress very feminine. thanks.
does anyone have a list?
