I took a summer class to hopefully replace a failed grade with an A but my teacher failed half the class and gave me a D. As a transfer student, I didn't have many credits on my record so an A would have let me qualify for financial aid and scholarships again but anything under a C- would hurt.

Anyway, I've been on SSI since I was 18 and I applied for DVR in April. I was recently approved and just had an appointment that didn't clarify very much. I worked at a catering company for a day but was fired after my shift ended because I couldn't lift 60 lb repeatedly over the course of 1-2 hours when I told the hiring manager that I could lift 30 lb repeatedly or 60 lb occasionally but couldn't reliably lift 60 l repeatedly without hurting myself (one of my disabilities is back-related).

My rent in this rural college town is $325 (I live with friends in a 3-BR) and SSI is less than $800 but I also get Food Stamps. My original plan was to earn an engineering degree and get a good-paying job far away from my family. However, now I have 2 options: stay in this college town and try to get a low-paying job with the help of DVR, with hopes that they might help pay for education, or move back in with my dad (whose rent was decreased when my sister moved out) and look for jobs in Seattle, possibly working with my dad at a restaurant.

I get along better with my housemates than with my dad but I get along with the rest of my family (in the Seattle area) better than I get along with my housemates and local friends. Weighing the pros and cons, everything seems equal except for the two unknowns of finances and I will make the decision based solely on financial prospects since everything else is mostly balanced out.
