My employer is trying to get prepaid gift cards for remote employees, to provide for basics like gas, groceries, etc. This is proving kind of unwieldy, as a lot of grocery stores have limited options for egift cards– Safeway is the only one that offers them in my area that we've found. We'd like it to limit the spending to a specific category, but gift cards are proving pretty ineffective.
One solution I've thought of is a prepaid debit card that can only be used at certain types of stores, e.g. grocery or soft goods type stores. This may be a long shot, but is there any sort of card that can have these restrictions put on it?
