I've been using this Citibank card for about 10 years now and the largest single purchase I've ever made was probably less than $1K. Last month I logged into my account to make a payment and to my surprise I had a $13K balance. Apparently somebody got my credit card information and bought $13K worth of shit from collegerefrigerators.com. Before we go any further, no authorized users made this purchase either.
Anyway, so I report the issue to Citibank and they said that they'll cancel the card and issue me a new one, that I'm not held responsible for unauthorized charges on my account, and somebody from a different office (a fraud unit or something) will contact me in the next few days to start the official investigation since its such a large amount. I wait and nothing comes. I call again, why hasn't anyone called me? Why isn't there a freeze on this charge? My balance still says I owe $12.5K. I get nowhere, they say I'll just have to be patient, and I will get a call soon. It's been over a month now and I STILL haven't gotten anywhere. I can't get any more information out of Citibank when I call them and I have no confirmation that they're even investigating this issue at all. I'm freaking out and I don't know what to do because nothing I'm telling them seems to generate any actual action on Citibank's part.
