So I recently pulled my credit report and saw a $3k item that I wasn't aware went to collections. I do believe I may have been at fault for this item but I did not want to take any chances so I requested a debt verification letter from them. I also insisted that we only communicate via email while discussing this matter so I would have everything in writing.
They did not agree to my request to only communicate via email nor did I ever receive a debt verification letter in the mail. But today I looked at my credit report again and my credit shot up 10 points and I noticed that the item was gone.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
