Earlier this week, am attempt was made to use my credit card fraudulently. Fortunately it was a card I used through privacy.com for online shopping and it was declined immediately.

Fast forward to a few days later and a shop-vac from Sears.com shows up at my doorstep, addressed to my name, but billed to someone else hundreds of miles away, and to a different credit card entirely. And the receipt included shows it was the exact same amount that was attempted on my card, and purchased the same day.

So I've seen plenty of posts about random money showing up in people's bank accounts, and the advice not to spend it because it will not stay there. But I admit I've never entirely understood how that scam works or how someone actually profits from it. But is this like that in some way? Or do I now just have a free shop-vac?
