Four years ago I had an accident. I fell down the stairs, hard, and had to go to the hospital. Hours later I was discharged and had that giant medical bill in my face of $7,600. There wasn't much of a way to pay it all, so I decided to pay small amounts.
For the next three years I paid $100/month on that balance. Here I am now with $3,000 left and I got the advice to call and negotiate. They told me they had good collection records from me and I have stayed true.
Thursday of this week is my final payment! They decided to settle the balance for just $250 and I'm done! This is $100 I'm putting towards another bill I have to pay it off quicker. And it. feels. great.
