We have a memory foam mattress that we bout about 4 years ago. We rotate it 180 degrees every month or two but it's at a point now where rotation does nothing. It sags right in the middle when I sleep, right under my hips (side and back sleeper) and it is murder on my back. I've had to start going to a Chiropractor twice a month to regularly fix my spine.
My husband doesn't have any issues sleeping, but I think since I have more curves (F) than him I suffer a lot more. I have a pretty typical hourglass figure. I've tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs and everything. It's not enough. This weekend was the last straw, I am so sick, but I have been doing most of my napping and resting on our couch or even on the floor on my husband's sleeping bag because it is better than sleeping on our mattress. On the mattress my lower gets stiff and achey within an hour or two. On the couch I can sleep for like 3 hours mid-day.
We cannot afford a new mattress. My husband is a grad student, and I have an hourly job. We can't even afford for me to park at my job (freaking permits cost $150 a month!). But I am desperate. I find I never want to lie in our bed because I always end up with a sore, stiff, aching back that can only be fixed by my psychiatrist. I'm even wary of some mattress toppers, the cheapest I've seen that has good reviews is about $55 and I'm not sure we can even afford that.
Does anyone know what I can do? Anything to make this mattress just a little more bearable for the next 10 months while my husband is in grad school? I am extremely desperate. I hate being in pain all the time.
