My employer is refusing to pay for time spent driving between work sites, which seems wrong to me and I’m hoping to get some feedback from people here. I work for a non profit in California, which has a contract with the local school district to provide eight hour long classes at eight different school. I go to four schools each day over two days.
I believe I should be paid for time spend driving between these schools, as it is a required part of my work day, although I use my personal car. As of now, my employer is refusing to pay for this time but instead has asked for mileage reimbursement forms to be submitted and for me to not list it on my timesheet. I am part time, hourly.
Can anybody please help out with the legality of this situation? Happy to provide additional details as needed. Thanks!
