This might sound counterintuitive, but I've noticed that half the time I buy groceries, I don't eat them because I don't feel like cooking, or I'm craving take out. So I end up throwing out a lot of food. But if I spend more money when doing the grocery shop to include the fancy bread or a block of chocolate, I notice that I'm less tempted to eat out. Basically, the more I indulge myself at the grocery store, the less likely I am to eat out, which saves me money and is generally the much healthier option. Now that I've realised that, I don't feel as guilty when I reach for some avocados that I would normally consider too expensive.
