In the process of removing some very old (and very stuck on) tile from the face of the chimney, we ended up losing the faces of some brick. None of the bricks are cracked, they're just missing 1-2mm from the surface of the brick. Is this purely cosmetic damage? We're trying to figure out the best path forward and so far it seems like our options are:Leave it, paint over it, deal with it being uneven in some places.Attempt to repair the faces w/ some form of concrete/mortar.Re-tile over it.Have a mason come out and repair/replace the bricks.We plan on painting the brick, so if the solution involved somehow patching the brick faces, matching the color wouldn't be something we'd need to worry about.Here's some pictures of the damage. via /r/DIY https://ift.tt/31DSuiC
